Max Fuller, Co-Founder & Executive Chairman

Max is widely respected within the trucking industry as a true innovator, evidenced by his award for innovation from the Smithsonian Institute in 2000. Under his leadership, U.S. Xpress became the second largest privately-owned truckload carrier in the nation, surpassing $1 billion in annual revenue in 2004. As Executive Chairman, he remains a full-time executive officer, focusing on long-term strategy, industry innovation, talent development, and equipment.

In addition to guiding U.S. Xpress to the forefront of the industry, he serves the community on several Boards of Directors and regularly accepts requests to share his insights at speaking engagements, including lending his expertise to presentations to the National Transportation Safety Board and the Department of Transportation.

Eric Fuller, President & Chief Executive Officer

Eric has served as Chief Executive Officer since March 2017 and as President since March 2018.

Prior to accepting his current role, Mr. Fuller served in a variety of operational and leadership roles of increasing responsibility, since 2000, including serving as Chief Operating Officer from 2012 until March 2017. Following his appointment as Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Fuller led the Company through its initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange.

Mr. Fuller serves as an executive director of the board of the American Trucking Associations (“ATA”) and as a member of the ATA’s Infrastructure Funding Task Force, an organization created to address the country’s critical need for highway and bridge improvements. Mr. Fuller also serves as a director of the Trucking Alliance, a coalition of freight and logistics companies that support safety and security reforms.

In addition, Mr. Fuller serves on the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Nashville branch and is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Justin Harness, President, Highway Services

Justin has served as President of Highway Services since August 2022.

In his current role, Mr. Harness is responsible for operations, sales, customer service, and revenue management across the company. The company's Highway Services division includes oversight of the company's Dedicated and OTR divisions as well as its Brokerage division.

Mr. Harness has spent more than two decades in key roles of increasing responsibility throughout U.S. Xpress, since starting his career as a management trainee in 2002. These roles include serving as: President of Dedicated, Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, Vice President of Customer Service, and Vice President and General Manager of Southwest Operations.

Nathan Harwell, Chief Legal Officer

Nathan has served as Chief Legal Officer since January 2020.

In his current role, Mr. Harwell is responsible for managing and overseeing our Legal, Risk, and Safety departments, as well as providing strategic leadership and coordination of legal matters.

Nathan is involved in a range of key industry and public policy initiatives including the American Trucking Associations Litigation Center Board, the Advisory Board for The Trucking Alliance, and the Public Policy Committee of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce.

Before joining U.S. Xpress, Mr. Harwell was a member of the board of directors and acted as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Rinnai America Corporation, a global manufacturer of commercial and residential gas appliances, and the market leader in tankless water heaters. Prior to his time at Rinnai, he was Senior Counsel at Medtronic, Inc., where he provided general legal counsel to the company's Spine and Biologics Division, with primary responsibilities of supporting product development and business development efforts.

He is a graduate of Carson-Newman College and received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.

Eric Peterson, Chief Financial Officer

Eric has served as Chief Financial Officer since October 2015.

He has held several roles in the company, including Treasurer, Secretary, Director of Accounting, Vice President of Accounting, and most recently, Senior Vice President of Accounting and Finance. Before joining our team, Eric worked as a Certified Public Accountant at Ernst & Young, LLP.

Eric is a graduate of the Samford University and received his Master of Accountancy from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Amanda Thompson, Chief People Officer

Amanda has served as Chief People Officer since August 2019.

In her current role, Ms. Thompson oversees the company’s human resources function, including overall responsibility for all talent acquisition, organization design, workforce planning, new employee onboarding, talent development, employee benefits and employee communications.

Amanda has served in roles of increasing responsibility at the company for nearly 20 years, including as Benefits Manager, Benefits and Compensation Director, Senior Human Resources Director, Vice President of Human Resources, and Senior Vice President of Human Resources.

Ms. Thompson is a devoted advocate of a more equitable workplace and leads inclusion and diversity efforts for the company, including its I&D Council, and helps guide its five employee resource groups, including Women in the Workplace, Multicultural, Veteran's, Pride, and Faith-based.

Amanda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Human Resources Management from Bryan College.

Julie Van de Kamp, President, Dedicated

Julie has served as President of Dedicated since January 2023.

She is responsible for leading operations for the Company’s Dedicated division, which services some of the nation’s largest retailers.

In her more than 15 years with U.S. Xpress, Julie has held numerous leadership positions across the enterprise including key roles in Customer Experience, Sales, and Pricing, applying her experience across all business units including OTR, Brokerage, and Dedicated.

Julie is executive sponsor of the Company's Women in the Workplace Employee Resource Group and serves as a mentor to many colleagues. In 2021, she won Supply and Demand Chain Executive's Women in Supply Chain Award, and in 2020, was named a Top Woman to Watch in Transportation by Women in Trucking.

She holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin, and is currently earning her Master of Business Administration from Emory University's Goizueta Business School.
